AFU seize luxury cars belonging to Edwin Sodi

The Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) has seized luxury cars belonging to the Blackhead Consulting director Edwin Sodi at his company headquarters in Bryanston.

The vehicles seized on Tuesday include a Ferrari and a Bentley.
Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Sipho Ngwema says a court-appointed curator oversaw the seizures.
"The curator is executing the AFU order which was granted by the Bloemfontein High Court last week. The curator has been doing inventories at the various properties in Johannesburg and attaching other more movable assets of the accused.”
He says more assets will be seized, including expensive properties.
"The accused can still have custody to the houses but they are not allowed to make any transfers or do any alteration. The only thing they must do is pay taxes, rates and maintain this properties to the standards they are in right now.”
Sodi and six co-accused appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court last week on charges of fraud, corruption, and money laundering in connection with a multi-million rand asbestos housing project in the Free State.
He earlier told the commission of inquiry into state capture that while he made contributions to the African National Congress (ANC), he doesn’t believe the donations were linked to his various government tenders.
