These are the names the ANC will put forward when the various provincial legislatures sit to elect new premiers following the 2024 general elections.

The party lost its majority KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng and Northern Cape, and only managed 40% of the national vote.

The liberation movement managed to retain its majority in Limpopo, Eastern Cape, North West, Mpumalanga and the Free State.

ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula said the candidates were interviewed by former president Kgalema Motlanthe, who serves as the chair of the electoral committee.

"The ANC renewal process seeks to restore trust and confidence as leader of the National Democratic Revolution and the fundamental socio-economic transformation of our society," said Mbalula.

"At its last two national conferences the ANC vowed to more effectively address society’s challenges, conduct its affairs in line with its core values and renew the movement so it can continue to serve and lead the people.

The ANC has resolved to keep Panyaza Lesufi in Gauteng, Oscar Mabuyane in the Eastern Cape, and Zamani Saul in the Northern Cape.

In Limpopo, Dr Phophi Ramathuba will replace Stan Mathabatha, while Mandla Ndlovu to replace Refilwe Mtshweni in Mpumalanga.

While in the North West Kagiso Lazarus Mokgosi will replace Bushy Maape, and Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae will replace Mxolisi Dukwana in the Free State.
