ANC confident it will retain troubled Thabazimbi

The ANC in Limpopo is confident it will retain power in the Thabazimbi Local Municipality during the upcoming by-elections.

Residents will head to the polls on 4 December.
The Independent Electoral Commission called for by-elections across all wards of the municipality after the previous council was dissolved.
The municipality was then placed under administration in September after a unanimous decision taken by the National Council of Provinces in August.
The decision followed various measures taken by the provincial government to ensure stability in the municipality, which has faced management challenges since 2021.
After the November 2021 local government elections, the municipality was run by two parallel councils, one led by the Democratic Alliance and another by the African National Congress.
Briefing members of the media in Polokwane on Wednesday, ANC provincial secretary Reuben Madadzhe said they are ready to retain the municipality.
"The ANC in Limpopo has been working tirelessly to ensure that its election systems are fully operational, and our by-elections campaign is now in full swing.
"In these rigorous preparations, the ANC is confident in its ability to retain all the wards and uphold its commitments to the people of Thabazimbi."
The party has also welcomed new members from opposition parties in the province, including from the DA, ActionSA and the EFF.
