ANC Stalwarts to discuss politics in the ruling party

The African National Congress (ANC) stalwarts kick off their ANC National Consultative Conference, on Friday.

The three day conference takes place at Constitution Hill in Johannesburg to discuss the state of politics within the ANC.
The conference is expected to be attended by about 500 people.
Stalwart Billy Ramokgopa says they have invited various ANC structures to be part of the discussions about the state of politics within the ruling party.
"We feel this conference must provide an opportunity where we bring everyone to interrogate what are the problems and what should be the solutions." said Ramokgopa.
However, earlier this week ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe distanced the party from the consultative conference organised by its own stalwarts.
"Whoever decides to attend won’t be representing the ANC. Anybody who goes there would be doing so as an individual member of the ANC," said Mantashe.
