The ANC's Tumisang Pilane was elected as the new mayor of the troubled Thabazimbi Municipality in Limpopo.

Pilane was elected unopposed on Thursday.
ANC councillors Dingaan Sebata was elected as the Speaker of Council, while Lettah Ndiweni was elected as Chief Whip.
This follows last week's by-election which resulted in a hung council which has 23 seats, after the ANC won 10 seats, DA won 4, EFF won 3, two seats each for Freedom Front Plus and Labour Party, while new MK Party and Thabazimbi Residents Association have one seat each.
The troubled municipality was placed under administration in September following years of instability since the 2021 elections.
"The ANC in Waterberg views this as a demonstration of commitment by all parties, to work towards a common good for the people of Thabazimbi," said ANC Waterberg region spokesperson Seraka Mapeka.
"The ANC wishes this cohort of councillors, all of the best, as they toil hard to improve the delivery of services in Thabazimbi."
