Angry Meadowlands residents block main road in Soweto
Updated | By Selaki Ledwaba
A protest over ongoing power outages in Meadowlands, Soweto, closed the area's main roads on Wednesday.

The Johannesburg metro police said Reverend Frederick Modise Drive was closed due to an ongoing protest by community members.
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla advised motorists to drive with caution when approaching the area or make use of alternative routes.
“While the road remains closed, the situation is calm, with community leadership, including the local councillor, on the ground engaging with residents.
“JMPD officers are also on the scene to monitor the situation. Traffic is being diverted at the intersection of Hennessey and Vincent Street.”
