Attempted cash-in-transit heist in Joburg CBD

A suspect has been shot and injured during an attempted cash-in-transit heist at a shopping center in the Johannesburg CBD.

Police say an unknown number of suspects targeted cash-in-transit guards at a shop in Johannesburg on Friday afternoon.
Provincial police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini says a shootout ensued between the guards and the suspects.
"It is alleged that the guards were attacked by an unknown number of suspects. A shootout occurred, and one suspect was shot and a firearm recovered."
The police say they have launched a manhunt for the other suspects.
"The other suspects fled the scene empty handed. At this stage we do not know how many suspects attacked the guards but we are in the process of taking statements from witnesses."
The suspect sustained minor injuries and has been taken to hospital.
