Barberton tavern shooting leaves two dead
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Mpumalanga police have launched a manhunt for the suspects in connection with the deaths of two people during a tavern shooting in Barberton.

The shooting happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Donald Mdhluli said the motive for the shooting is unknown.
"Two victims were certified dead on arrival in the hospital. The third victim was rushed to hospital.
"It is reported that a group of armed suspects entered the liquor outlet and started firing some shots, leading to the serious injuries to the three victims."
"No one has been arrested so far, and the motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage," he said.
This is the latest in a series of tavern shootings in the province. In January this year, seven people were shot and killed at a tavern in Pienaar, outside Mbombela.
Later that month, four people were gunned down at another tavern shooting in Siyabuswa, while three more were killed in Tweefontein in March 2024.
