BMW recalls some 3k vehicles in SA due to faulty brakes
Updated | By Princess Mahogo
BMW is recalling about 1.5 million vehicles globally due to problems with their brake systems.

The braking system behind the problems was supplied by Continental. The German auto supplier said the affected component would be replaced if problems were detected.
But it added that, even in cases where the fault is detected, the "braking performance is not compromised and brakes can always be applied".
The vehicles that are being recalled were manufactured between June 2022 and August 2024.
BMW South Africa spokesperson Hailey Philander says the replacement will be done free of charge, regardless of the vehicle's age and mileage.
“South Africa is affected by this recall. About 3,700 BMW and MINI models are affected, and customers have been contacted.
“Other potentially affected vehicles globally include the BMW X1, BMW X2, BMW XM, BMW X5, BMW X5 M, BMW X6, BMW X6 M, BMW XM, BMW X7, BMW 5 Series Sedan, BMW 7 Series Sedan, MINI Cooper and MINI Countryman.
“We would urge customers not to panic. While this affects your braking system, the car is still able to break effectively. All we ask is that you apply more force when you brake and that you allow for efficient following distance” added Philander.
