Body of Free State farmer found with firearm in hand
Police in Free State are investigating a case of murder after a farmer’s body was found with a gun wound at Groenpunt Farm in the Boshof district on Monday.
The 32-year-old farmer, whose body was found with a firearm in his hand, has been identified as Nicolas Jacobus Oosthuizen.
Free State police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng said Oosthuizen left the house with a firearm.
“We can confirm that the farmer's wife phoned the SAPS about the disappearance of her husband on Sunday morning. Preliminary investigation reveals that according to the wife, her husband took his firearm and left to the field.
“On arrival, Boshof SAPS and neighbouring farmers initiated the search, until the body was found at about 07:40 on 28 November 2022.”
