Body of missing EC girl (12) found, suspect arrested

The Eastern Cape police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a 12-year-old girl’s body in the early hours of Friday morning.

The victim, Lithaliyanda Ntoni from NU10, Motherwell, had been reported missing on Tuesday, after she failed to return home from a nearby shop.
Her body was found at around 02:10 am in bushes near Khabonqaba Street, NU6, Motherwell.
Police have arrested a 39-year-old male suspect in connection with her kidnapping and murder.

Major General Thandiswa Kupiso, Acting Provincial Commissioner of the Eastern Cape, condemned the horrific crime.
"While we commend the swift arrest in this case, the brutal nature of this child’s murder has deeply shocked our officers and the community. We have full confidence in our investigative team and the National Prosecuting Authority to ensure justice for Lithaliyanda and her family."
Authorities are working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident as investigations continue.
