Boksburg shopping centre goes up in flames
A fire broke out at the East Rand Retail Park in Boksburg.
Plumes of smoke could be seen hanging over Boksburg due to a blaze at East Rand Retail Park on Thursday morning.
According to Ekurhuleni Emergency Services, firefighters are battling a structural fire.
“At this stage we got active firefighting taking place. We're also getting some resources to give backup on the existing personnel on scene. It is a shopping complex. Woolworths, Hi-Fi Corporation, Checkers Hyper are exposed to that fire,” says spokesperson William Ntladi.
Ntladi says three shops were completely destroyed in the fire.
