Bronkhorstspruit areas face day-long water shutdown for urgent repairs
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Residents across Bronkhorstspruit are warned of a day-long water outage on Wednesday, as the City of Tshwane carries out urgent repairs on the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant’s bulk pipeline.

The shutdown is scheduled to last between 8 am and 5 pm.
This comes after a major pipe leak forced technicians to halt water supply.
City of Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo says initial attempts to repair the leak failed because of excessive water inflow at the excavation site.
"Large parts of Bronkhorstspruit, including Zithobeni, Ekangala, Rethabiseng, Erasmus, Kristalpark, and several surrounding extensions, will be directly affected by the interruption.
"City officials have urged residents in unaffected areas to use water sparingly to ease pressure on the system. In the meantime, roaming water tankers will be dispatched to supply emergency relief to communities hardest hit by the outage."
The City has apologised for the inconvenience caused and thanked residents for their patience while the essential work is completed.
