’State not ready’ as case against Didi Lekganyane’s alleged killer postponed
Updated | By Masechaba Sefularo
The case against the alleged killer of celebrated scientist Dorcas 'Didi' Lekganyane has been postponed to 29 November.

This follows a brief appearance by the accused, who is Lekganyane's husband, in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Friday morning.
Cecil Kekana was arrested in July following the discovery of Lekganyane's lifeless body at their Bramley home.
Speaking to the SABC outside court, the 32-year-old's uncle, Robert Lekganyane, said they welcomed the postponement after the state revealed it was not ready to proceed in court.
“We fully understand because we don’t want a situation where they rush into things and, in the process, miss crucial information that could assist in the success of a conviction.”
The month before her death, Lekganyane was named one of the Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans, an annual feature profiling trailblazing youngsters.
