Updated | By Eva Chipa
One man was killed and three others
injured on Tuesday morning when a truck carrying chemicals collided with two cars on the N1 between William Nicol and Rivonia.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring says upon arrival paramedics found one of the vehicles ablaze.
“The chemical truck was lying on its side on the road while two light motor vehicles were a short distance away, one well alight and another on its roof.
“It is understood that medics had pulled a man and woman from the burning vehicle and found that the man from the burning vehicle had already succumbed to his burn wounds while the woman was in a critical condition.”

The truck driver was found lying on the highway in a serious condition, while another woman from the overturned vehicle had escaped with minor injuries.
Johannesburg metro police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar says there was no chemical spill, but traffic was backed-up in the area.
“The tanker was empty at the time of the accident but is still a major obstruction at N1 north at Wiliam Nicol off-ramp”
