CIT robbers hit van in Katlehong

A group of suspects have fled with an undisclosed amount of money, after a cash in transit robbery in the East Rand on Saturday morning.

The robbery took place in Kathlehong, leaving one security guard injured during the shootout with the suspects.
Police spokesperson Vish Naidoo says a Mercedes Benz rammed into the security vehicle, causing it to an immediately stop.
"A group of armed men alighted from two bakkies. There was an exchange of gunfire between the suspects and the security guards. Unfortunately, the security guards were overwhelmed," he says
Police have activated a 72-hour activation plan to mobilise "critical crime resources."
