City Power disconnects defaulting customers in Lenasia
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
City Power has continued its revenue collection operation by disconnecting defaulting customers in Lenasia, south of Johannesburg.

Spokesperson Isaac Mangena says they are targeting business and residential areas, which collectively owe the city some R20 million.
Two weeks ago, City Power cut off non-paying customers in Naturena.
The utility said the disconnection drive was in response to unpaid rates and taxes totalling R200 million
"In total, over R1,3 billion is owed to the Lenasia service delivery centre. With the help of law enforcement agencies, City Power has ramped up efforts to close the growing customer debts, which have reached unsustainable levels and are making it difficult for us to render services.
"We will continue rolling out these cut-off operations throughout the city. The failure to enforce payments could potentially plunge City Power into a state of crisis."
