City Power targets defaulting customers in luxury estates
Updated | By Bulletin
City Power says it has successfully imposed service restrictions on multiple defaulting customers at Aspen Hills Nature Estate and Dainfern Golf Estate.

The two luxury estates collectively owe about R130 million.
The operation forms part of City Power’s broader initiative to address the escalating issue of unpaid electricity bills and non-compliance.
City Power CEO Tshifularo Mashava says its total debt city-wide stands at R9.6 billion down from R10.2 billion recorded during the same period last year.
“If we can collect that R100 million, it means we will be able to serve our residents so much better. So, if you look at the lavish houses around here, it really doesn’t make sense when they are unable to afford to pay us for our services.”
The MMC for Finance Cllr. Margaret Arnolds warns residents of Dainfern Estate that the @CityofJoburgZA #CutOfOperation is going to continue throughout the festive season.#WeServeJoburg #cutoffoperation #JoburUpdates@CityPowerJhb@JHBWater
