The cold conditions will be accompanied by scattered thundershowers for a short period on Thursday afternoon.

“From tomorrow, we are having a cut-off low. Although it is located over the central parts of the country, it is expected to hit the central and eastern parts of the country,” said senior forecaster at the SA Weather Service, Tokelo Chiloane.

She said temperature drops will be significant, with Pretoria experiencing a maximum of 14 degrees Celsius and Johannesburg 13 degrees Celsius.

“So, the rainfall we are talking about will be expected in the early afternoon tomorrow. After that, there is nothing much to expect in Gauteng. It will move to the eastern parts of the country.”

Chiloane added that Lesotho will experience the most snow, while KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga will only experience snow on the mountain peaks.
