Comrades 2025 expected to inject millions in KZN

The 98th edition of the Comrades Marathon is set to pump millions into KwaZulu-Natal's economy.

Last year, the Ultimate Human Race brought in an estimated R600 million with officials projecting an even higher figure for 2025.
KwaZulu-Natal Tourism reports direct spending at the event is expected to be over R275,000, with 1,800 jobs created.
Over 22,000 runners will take on the challenging down-run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban on Sunday.
The wait is almost over! Just ONE DAY TO GO until the 49th Comrades Marathon Down Run!

Brett Tungay, from the Federated Hospitality Association, says the influx of visitors has led to full bookings at most hotels and BnBs in both cities.
"Most of the people will be staying over in Durban. We will also start picking up quite a few people that are staying in Pietermaritzburg after the run to recover.
"It's great for both cities, including the international and local exposure for Durban and Pietermaritzburg.”
