Convicted murderer Sandile Mantsoe sentenced for fraud

Convicted murderer Sandile Montsoe has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for running a fake investment scheme in Mpumalanga in 2016.

Mantsoe, who is the sole owner of the Trillion Dollar Legacy investment scheme, is serving a 32-year sentence for the 2017 murder of his then-girlfriend Karabo Mokoena.
The Evander Magistrate’s Court sentenced the 34-year-old on Tuesday.
According to the Hawks, Mantsoe defrauded would-be investors, most of whom were public servants, by recruiting about 120 investors to invest over R2 million for a supposed higher return on investment.
Mantsoe failed to pay his clients as promised, and one of his victims reported the matter to the police.
His company has been fined about R1.6 million, which was suspended for five years on each charge.
"The effective imprisonment for accused two (Mantsoe) is, therefore, 15 years direct imprisonment,” said Mpumalanga Hawks spokesperson Lucy Sekgotodi.
“The sentence for accused two will run concurrently with the existing sentence of 36 years imprisonment for the murder of his girlfriend in Gauteng during April 2017.”
