Correctional Services denies torture claims by Meyiwa accused

The Department of Correctional Services has denied allegations of torture by accused number five 5 in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial.

Fisokuhle Ntuli claims that he is being tortured at Kgosi Mampuru II prison in Pretoria.
However, Correctional Services say Ntuli was allegedly caught with a cell phone earlier this month.
The confiscated mobile phone was handed over to the police for forensic downloading.
Ntuli and four others are on trial at the High Court in Pretoria for the 2014 murder of former Bafana Bafana captain.
The presiding judge, Ratha Mokgoatlheng, ordered that Ntuli be moved to the Leeuwkop prison in Johannesburg.
"These claims are baseless and appear to be part of a growing trend by inmates to manipulate the system and avoid accountability for their actions," said DCS spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo
"Based on the offender's conduct and associated risk profile, he was reclassified and subsequently transferred to the C-Max facility, in line with existing correctional procedures."
