Couple accused of killing baby to apply for bail
A couple accused of killing their 5-month-old baby will appear in court for their bail hearing on August 22.
The couple was arrested on August 7 and are still in police custody.
Norkem Park police spokesperson Lesibana Molokomme says the mother initially claimed to be unaware of the cause of the baby's death.
"At first the case was opened as an inquest as the mother alleges when she woke up the child wasn't breathing and the police were called.
"The doctor at the mortuary said the child had internal wounds and the court directed police to investigate a case of murder.”
