Couple arrested in Western Cape on child pornography charges
A couple from Bloubergstrand in the Western Cape is in police custody following their arrest for allegedly sexually abusing their two daughters.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk says the couple, aged 48 and 47, were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly using their children, aged three and eight, to produce child pornography.
She says the suspects face multiple charges including the production of child sexual abuse material, rape, sexual assault and grooming.
The children were rescued and placed in a place of safety.
Van Wyk says the arrests follow yet another collaboration with the FBI, America’s Homeland Security, the Department of Social Development and the Western Cape Serial and Electronic Crime Investigations Unit.
She says several digital devices were seized during the arrest, and the investigation is ongoing.
