Covid-19 claims life of legendary musician Steve Kekana
Legendary South African musician Steve Kekana has died after contracting Covid-19.
His manager Xolani Majozi confirmed Kekana died on Thursday morning after he was rushed to hospital.
Kekana was 62.
"He had a short illness because in the past four days he was fine. I am told by his wife that he tested positive for covid before he was admitted to the hospital," said Majozi.
Kekana was born Tebogo Steve Kekana in Zebediela, Limpopo.

He lost his sight when he was five years old and attended a school for the blind in then Pietersburg, where he developed his passion for music.
"It's a sad day because he was more like a friend because he used to visit my family here in KwaZulu-Natal. Our relationship was beyond just a business relationship, we were like family," added Majozi.
He said he would miss Kekana's unique taste in music.
"He is one of those artists who had the talent of crossing over from one genre of music to another without a problem. He started singing mbaqanga then he moved to soul music, then the gospel, and then he had some songs that had a reggae theme. He was a very versatile musician.”
Kekana collected several awards during his career, including the SABC Black Music Award for best male vocalist.
More recently in 2018, he received the South African Music Awards (SAMA) lifetime achievement award.
