Covid-19 vaccinations: Walk-ins accepted for over 50s in Gauteng
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The Department of Health in Gauteng has announced that residents over the age of 50 can now walk into a vaccination site and get a shot without registering.

The department on Monday also increased its mobile vaccination sites in Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni.
This as the province continues to battle an unprecedented level of Covid-19 infections.
Spokesperson Kwara Kekana says people will be transported from their regions to the vaccination sites.
"As part of this programme, persons eligible to get the Covid-19 vaccine will be transported by buses from local pick-up points to a local vaccination site, free of charge to get vaccinated.
"Mobile vaccination sites will also visit SASSA pay points to vaccinate social grant recipients who are eligible to get the vaccine."
However, the Progressive Health Forum's Dr Aslam Dasoo says the walk-ins shows how the electronic system failed to simplify registration.
"For some reason, they couldn't understand that the way they have been registering potential vaccinees through the EVDS system is not working and we have been calling on them to simplify this.
"The plan is a good one, but it could have been helpful and been done before the surge, because the problem is that when people gather, you create an increased risk of transmission."
