Crime intelligence boss Dumisani Khumalo arrested
Crime intelligence boss Major General Dumisani Khumalo has been arrested by the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC).
News 24 reported that Khumalo was arrested in connection with alleged unlawful senior appointments.
He was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport on Thursday.
National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola confirmed the arrest during a media briefing in the Western Cape.
"I also picked it up now from the Provincial Commissioner of Gauteng, he did inform me that he just learnt that me that he [Khumalo] has been arrested by the ID. That's all I can say. What for? I don't know,” Masemola said.
Khumalo is expected to appear before the Pretoria Magistrate Court on Friday.
He was appointed to role in 2022.
