The Ekurhuleni metro police have confirmed the death of a male cyclist on Monday morning.

The 36-year-old man was cycling to Tembisa when the incident took place.
“The accident happened on the P38 between R23 and Vlei street in Glen Marais in Kempton Park this morning,” says EMPD spokesperson Marie Mashishi.
“The cyclist was travelling from direction south going direction north, which is the direction of Tembisa and the taxi was travelling in the same direction. It is alleged that the taxi came along and dragged the cyclist under the taxi.”
The man was declared dead on the scene.
The taxi driver had sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for further evaluation.
“We will open a case of capable homicide at the Kempton Park Police Station,” says Mashishi.
