DA bags Mbombela wards again

The Democratic Alliance won two wards in Mbombela in the municipal by-elections, the party said on Wednesday.

 

Werner le Grange and Trudie Grove-Morgan would be the councillors for Wards 17, which covers Nelspruit and Steiltes, and Ward 30, which covers White River, said DA provincial leader Anthony Benadie in a statement.

 

The number of votes had increased from the previous elections in which the DA had won. Ward 17 had increased by 6.3 percent to reach an 86 percent vote. Ward 30 had increased by 11 percent to reach 78.3 percent, the statement said.  Earlier on Wednesday, Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) spokeswoman Kate Bapela said the elections were going well in 19 wards across eight provinces.
