DA calls on Morero to axe Kunene as MMC
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The Democratic Alliance has called on Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero to remove Transport MMC Kenny Kunene from his post.

The call comes after Patriotic Alliance leader Gayton McKenzie announced that he will write to Morero to have Kunene removed from his position during the investigation period.
The probe related to Kunene’s presence at the Sandton home of businessman Katiso Molefe during his arrest this week.
Molefe is facing charges in the murder case of musician DJ Sumbody.
Kunene has denied knowing Molefe, saying he was at his property by coincidence on Monday.
DA's Belinda Kayser-Echeozonjoku says Kunene must go to preserve the executive’s stature.
"Hanging out with suspected murderers and bringing the entire executive into disrepute is punishable, and Morero must act.
"A paid, month-long holiday is not an option for Kunene. Nothing short of his unconditional removal will suffice, pending the outcome of both ethics and criminal investigations into his links to suspected murderers."
Kayser-Echeozonjoku added that the DA doesn't have any faith in McKenzie's internal investigation after he stated that he believes Kunene is innocent.

"Gayton’s social media proclamation that he will suspend Kunene as an MMC has absolutely no legal basis. His internal party-political nonsense has no place in the Johannesburg executive. We do not expect more from him, but the law does. Kenny must go for the preservation of the executive’s stature and Johannesburg."
