De Ruyter's books stolen from Pretoria bookstore

Fifteen copies of former Eskom CEO André de Ruyter's tell-all books were stolen at a Pretoria store on Thursday.

Graffiti Books owner, Leonie van Rensburg says the incident resulted in a loss of more than R5000 worth of stock, which is a big loss for the store.
The book, titled Truth to Power: My Three Years Inside Eskom, was published last month through Penguin Random House retailing for R340.
"They just walked in, they just walked in grabbed 15 copies and ran off,” says Van Rensburg.
“It was a big display in the front of the store and when the staff member came from the back of the store realised that the books were missing.”
She says a case has not yet been opened, however, they are currently looking at the neighbouring store cameras to identify the cameras.
Van Rensburg says it is possible the culprit might not be found.
She believes the person specifically targeted de Ruyter's books.
"It was definitely targeted because somebody that wants to steal a book will take one, they will definitely not take 15 copies and make off with it,” she says.
"It is a book that is popular at the moment, apart from all the illegal PDF copies that are floating all over social media, I think it is a book that people can be able to get rid of."
Van Rensburg says the leaking of PDF copies of the same book resulted in an 8% loss in sales for bookstores.
