Deadly Carletonville crash ‘a lesson for department’ - Chiloane
Updated | By Mapaballo Borotho
Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane has described the deaths of 11 pupils in a crash involving a bakkie and their scholar transport as a lesson for the department.

The horrific crash in Carletonville, on the West Rand, took place a month ago when a bakkie collided with a minibus taxi transporting school children on JB Marx Road in Fochville.
A joint mass funeral service for ten of the victims was held at Fochville Secondary School on Thursday.
The MEC told mourners that the department is taking steps to prevent a repeat of the crash.
"We are reflecting greatly on this tragedy, and we will be working around the clock to find all means possible that don't ever experience this heartbreak again as a province,” he said.
"Let’s work together to curb this so that it does not happen again. We cannot lose our children in vain. Our children cannot be statistics.”
