Death toll rises in flood hit Eastern Cape
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The Eastern Cape provincial government has confirmed that at least nine people have been confirmed dead in the wake of the massive winter storm that brought snow, storms and heavy rain.

The inclement weather has also caused significant damage to road infrastructure and the displacement of residents, while scores of houses have been submerged.
Eight bodies were found in Decoligny Village in Mthatha, and another body was recovered at Tsolo near the Bedlana River.
At the same time, the search continues for the school bus that was swept away by floods in Mthatha while transporting children to school on Tuesday morning.
"The disaster management teams are already on site preparing to continue with the search operation", said Eastern Cape government spokesperson Khuselwa Rantjie.
"The focus is mainly on the school learners who were swept away with a bus or from a bus yesterday (Tuesday) morning and also it will widen to any other person that may still be unaccounted for in that specific area."
