DJ Sumbody murder case returns to court following postponement
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The four men accused of murdering popular Amapiano artist and entrepreneur Oupa “DJ Sumbody” Sekofa are expected to appear before the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, following a brief postponement last week.

The accused were arrested last Monday in Gauteng and face multiple charges including three counts of murder, possession of unlicensed firearms, and possession of ammunition.
The accused are Michael Pule Tau, Katiso Molefe, Tiego Floyd Mabusela, and Musa Kekana.
Sekofa was killed in a hail of bullets in November 2022 while travelling with his bodyguards, Sibusiso Mokoena and Sandile Myeza, who were also fatally shot in the ambush.
During last week’s court appearance, National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane confirmed that one of the accused has indicated an intention to apply for bail.
The state, however, requested a postponement to finalise its investigations ahead of the bail proceedings.
"As the state we were not yet ready to proceed, we are finalising the investigation in terms of the bail application that must be heard by the court," Mjonondwane said.
"We have been granted the opportunity by the court to conclude those investigations which will include, amongst others, profiling the accused that wants to bring the formal bail application."
The accused remain in custody.
