Door open for ‘brother’ Shivambu return - Malema
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
EFF leader Julius Malema has left the door open for his now-former deputy president Floyd Shivambu to return to the party in the future.

Shivambu abandoned the party he had helped set up in 2013 to join the MK Party.
Malema accepted Shivambu’s resignation on Thursday.
During a media briefing on Thursday, he also announced that the party would not immediately name a new deputy president.
The position will only be filled in December when members elect new leaders at its elective conference.
“We are very fortunate, though unfortunate, that it happens on the eve of the conference and the conference will be able to resolve this,” said Malema.
“I felt the same pain when I received news of the passing away of my mother because Floyd, to me, is not just a comrade; he is a brother.
“We formed this organisation together, and I have told him that resigning from the EFF is equal to resigning from himself because this is his organisation,” he said.
Malema promised to make an exception to its constitution, which states a member cannot return to the EFF once they have joined another political party.
“I have made this offer to Floyd that the day you decide to come back, you are more than welcome. There will be many others who are going to leave the EFF because they’ve got their loyalty and support to the deputy president,” the EFF leader warned.
