Dudula to picket at Zanzou nightclub assault case
Updated | By Selaki Ledwaba
Operation Dudula has urged the justice system “to make an example” of the suspect arrested in connection with the incident of bouncer brutality at the Zanzou nightclub in Pretoria.

It has been reacting to viral videos of torture and assault of a group of young men, which have been widely shared on social media.
In the videos, the men are forced to perform lewd sexual acts on themselves.
In another instance, a grey cloth is placed over their heads before they are drenched in water – a torture technique known as waterboarding.
A 41-year-old Congolese national has since been arrested in Yeoville in Johannesburg and is set to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Operation Dudula is picketing outside the court on Monday, where the man will face charges of compelled rape, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and crimen injuria.
“Can the law and the justice system set an example for these people because it is heinous crimes against humanity regardless of whether it is here in South Africa or it’s out there? It is even worse because, as South Africans, this is unknown behaviour to us,” Operation Dudula spokesperson Refilwe Mathe said.
“I will tell you a fact, that these people who perpetrate against South Africans are in this country illegally, and they know they can do whatever they want, and they will never be caught because they are not documented properly,” Mathe added.
The suspect is not currently facing any charges under the Immigration Act, and law enforcement has not confirmed the person’s immigration status.
Mathe added that Operation Dudula will work closely with the police to ensure that the victims receive justice.
“For the longest time, we have been saying there is something wrong with our Immigration Act, but we want this to be dealt with because this disempowers the Black male.”
