The men, aged 29 and 41, were arrested less than a week after what police have described as a ‘fatal road rage incident’.

The couple was gunned down in broad daylight in the parking lot of a shopping complex on Saturday, prompting a manhunt for suspects travelling in a white Kia Rio.

North West Police spokesperson Adele Myburgh said the first suspect was arrested in Boitekong, after the car was tracked and seized at the Ndamoyi section.

“The first suspect conceded that on that fateful day, he was travelling in and driving the Kia Rio vehicle and that he was with his friend, who was the one who allegedly shot the elderly couple before they fled from the scene. He then took the police to Rustenburg East, where his accomplice is staying.”

At the second location, police found the alleged shooter.

“The police, upon arrival, found the second person who showed them a pistol. The suspect was immediately placed under arrest and the firearm seized,” Myburgh added.

The men, who face two counts of murder, are expected back in court on 2 July after their matter was postponed.

The court also ordered that the suspects’ identities may not be disclosed.
