The Department of Water and Sanitation has vowed to pursue officials who were found guilty of fraud and corruption.

The department has uncovered over R16 million in irregular expenditure.
Minister Lindiwe Sisulu, alongside the department's director-general Mbulelo Changana, briefed the media in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
Sisulu announced on Tuesday that she had appointed respected Advocate Terry Motau to continue the investigations done by the department.
"Out of 138 that were found guilty 11 of them were at management level in the department, about 86 are between level 1 and level 12 which is middle management and level 1 is general workers," said Changana.
He said out of the 138 officials who were charged, 16 ended up being cleared.
"The amounts are staggering and we need a great deal of support from Treasury and Parliament for us to be able to get the resources that we need. Our infrastructure in water in a great need of repairs and we don't have the resources," Sisulu added.
The department is pursuing 21 criminal cases, while some of the officials have been dismissed.
