EFF to lay corruption charges against Minister Macpherson
Updated | By Lebohang Ndashe
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) plans to open a corruption case against Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson on Wednesday morning.

Macpherson is accused of interfering in the Independent Development Trust (IDT) tender processes.
The party will file the case at the Pretoria Central Police Station.
Reports indicate that the Collins Chabane municipal building project in Limpopo, which began six years ago, remains incomplete despite spending R50 million in taxpayer funds.
Macpherson has distanced his department from the project, while the Limpopo Provincial Department of Public Works has also denied any involvement.
Municipal records show that approximately 60% of the municipality’s grant funding was used to settle 2023 debts to service providers, with no new projects planned for the 2024/25 financial year.
This has raised concerns over funding for ongoing projects.
Macpherson has denied the allegations, stating that the project was initiated solely by the municipality and that his department had no involvement.
However, the EFF is accusing the minister of violation of National Treasury Regulations and violation of the Executive Members Ethics Act, 1998.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has dismissed the claims, praising Macpherson for exposing and investigating corruption, including a major scandal involving an irregularly awarded R800-million oxygen tender by IDT.
The DA hailed Macpherson’s actions as part of a new culture of corruption-fighting that the party advocates for in government.
