Ramaphosa approached the high court in Pretoria to interdict Mkhwebane’s remedial action against Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan.
Ramaphosa wanted to wait for Gordhan’s review application before taking any possible disciplinary action against him in the Ivan Pillay pension payout saga.
EFF spokesperson, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said the party will be heading to the Constitutional Court based on the fact that a review application “does not set aside the remedial action of the Public Protector”.
Meanwhile, President Ramaphosa’s legal team has requested the high court in Pretoria to seal certain information contained in the record of the public protector’s report on Bosasa.
In the letter of request, Ramaphosa's lawyers suggest that some of the bank statements may have been obtained unlawfully.
On Friday, Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng addressed a gathering of female judges in Mbombela yesterday where he spoke about the independence of the judiciary.
Mogoeng said the recourse for those who are unhappy with a judge's conduct is clear.
Mogoeng used the occasion to call for the courts to be sensitive towards rape victims when granting bail to accused rapists.
