EFF wants public protector to probe Gordhan

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) wants Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane to investigate the allegations of impropriety against Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan

This comes after Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng revealed on Tuesday that Gordhan, who was finance minister at the time, inquired about appointment of Dhaya Pillay to the Supreme Court of Appeal.
Mogoeng told the Judicial Service Committee that he feared Gordhan attempted to influence the appointment of a friend.
EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu opened a criminal complaint against Gordhan at Hillbrow Police Station on Wednesday morning.
Shivambu said the party will write to the public protector since she only one who can enforce the executive ethics code.
"And we are going to write to the parliamentary ethics committee and demand there must be a hearing against him, like there has been against the members of the EFF and some were found guilty.
"Here is a clear violation of the constitution, a clear violation of the separation of power and state," said Shivambu.
