EFF: Additional policing resources needed in Midrand
Updated | By Lebohang Ndashe
On Saturday, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) conducted an oversight visit to Midrand Police Station to address growing concerns about the high levels of crime in the area.

The Red Berets has been visiting police stations throughout the country, with party leader Julius Malema Limpopo and Mbuyiseni Ndlozi spending time in KwaZulu-Natal.
EFF MP Fana Mokoena said the visit was in response to public complaints about the police station’s inability to handle crime and other responsibilities of the Midrand area.
“Midrand Police Station was at the centre of the complaint. That is why we went there in the first place,” he said, adding that the police officer described the presence of only one police station in the area as inadequate.
Mokoena said the government has apparently approved a second police station following a feasibility study, but so far, progress has yet to be made in implementing the plan.
“The issues raised by both the Midrand public and police will be raised in Parliament and with relevant departments. Where a political response is necessary, it will be implemented,” Mokoena told Jacaranda FM News.
Mokoena said the EFF will also push for the opening of the second police station.
