Updated | By Christelle du Toit
You will need to take your SA ID document with (either the green bar-coded ID book, smart card ID, or a valid Temporary Identity Certificate) in order to cast your vote. Copies of identify documents, even if certified, will not be accepted.

South Africans head to the polls today to vote in the 2019 National and provincial elections.
Voters will have their cross on 2 ballots, one for the party of their choice in the national race for seats in Parliament, and one on the provincial ballot for who will represent them in their provincial legislatures.
If you want to check if you are registered to vote and where you can SMS your ID Number to 32810 (R1.00 per SMS).
Alternatively, you can visit the IEC’s website and enter your ID number to check your registration status or find your voting station (best viewed in Chrome).
You will need to take your SA ID document with (either the green bar-coded ID book, smart card ID, or a valid Temporary Identity Certificate) in order to cast your vote. Copies of identify documents, even if certified, will not be accepted.
Voting stations will be open from 7am until 9pm and everyone who has entered a voting station by 9pm will still be allowed to vote.
If you're outside your voting district on election day (through travel, for example), you may vote at another voting station in South Africa, according to the IEC. If you're outside the province where you're registered, you'll only be able to vote in the national election and not the provincial election. You may be required to provide proof of registration (application sticker pasted in your ID when you applied for registration) if the zip-zip scanner is unable to verify your registration. You'll also have to complete a form (VEC 4) at the voting station.
The IEC’s CEO, Sy Mambolo says it will take more than 200-thousand staff members to pull off the largest election in South Africa's history.
