Eskom hoping to limit power cuts over the weekend
Updated | By Princess Mahogo
Eskom announced on Friday afternoon that stage 3 load shedding will be implemented from 16:00. until 5:00. on Saturday.

Thereafter, load shedding will be suspended on Saturday and Sunday between 5:00 and 16:00.
Stage 2 load shedding will be implemented from 16:00 and 5:00 on both Saturday and Sunday.
Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena said the limited power cuts are due to the sustained improved performance of generation availability as well as the anticipated lower demand over the weekend.
Breakdowns at the embattled utility stood at 14 266MW of generating capacity on Friday afternoon, while the capacity out of service for planned maintenance is 5 388MW.
Mokwena said a generating unit each at Arnot, Duvha, Ingula and Vanderkloof power stations was taken offline for repairs over the past 24 hours.
“In the same period, a generating unit at Hendrina Power Station was returned to service. Eskom teams are working tirelessly to ensure that additional generating units are returned to service as soon as possible.”
