Eskom pushes power cuts to stage 6
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Eskom has escalated load shedding to stage 6 from 4pm on Wednesday due to a shortage of generation capacity.

The embattled power utility says stage 5 load shedding will then be implemented from 5am to 4pm on Thursday morning.
Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena says the rotational stage 6 and 5 patterns will be repeated daily until further notice.
Mokwena says over the past 24 hours two generation units were returned to service at Kriel Power Station, but a generating unit at Duvha Power Station had to be taken offline for repairs.
"The delays in returning a unit to service at Camden, Kendal, Lethabo, Medupi and Tutuka power stations have contributed to the capacity constraints. Similarly, the increase in demand after the long weekend and the re-opening of the schools has put additional strain on the power generation system.”
