The iconic North West resort was ravaged by a fire on Wednesday morning.
“After the police investigation we will start with our own internal investigation, talk to insurers and get engineers on site to assess the damage,” Atherton said on Wednesday.
“We had 64 guests at the hotel and they have been transferred to another hotel. For the next three months the hotel will be closed."
Atherton said the property is almost 45 years old.
“This is where the magic of our industry started and today its tragic, we are heartbroken. I am happy to report that although there has been some injuries, but there is no loss of life on either our employees or customers.”
Deputy provincial police commissioner Patrick Asaneng said they have taken over the site for investigation.
“It is important that we conduct an in-depth investigation, we have on site our forensic fire investigators who will immediately investigate. We will expedite the investigation and within a week we would be able to report to the public about the cause of the fire.”
