Gauteng police arrested five suspected illegal miners following a shoot-out in Dawn Park, Boksburg, on Tuesday.

Police say officers were on patrol when they received a complaint that illegal miners were robbing the community of Lindelani Informal Settlement.
Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo says two unlicensed firearms were recovered.
"The police proceeded to the area, and the community members pointed out the suspects who were at the time busy with illegal mining activities.
"As the police were approaching, the suspects started to shoot at the police, and the shootout ensued.
"The police managed to arrest five of the suspects and recovered two unlicensed firearms and more than ten rounds of ammunition," he added.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Boksburg Magistrate's Court soon, facing charges that include attempted murder, possession of unlicensed firearms, and ammunition.
