Flights remain suspended at King Phalo Airport in East London
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) on Thursday confirmed the suspension of all flights at the King Phalo Airport in East London due to adverse weather conditions.

The airport has two runways which cannot be used until weather conditions improved.
The suspension has left hundreds of passengers stranded at the airport.
"Therefore, under certain weather condition, particularly with reduced visibility, aircrafts may not be able to procedurally commence approach and landing," ACSA in a statement.
"Prevalent high winds in the area further necessitated increased tactical safety parameters to be instituted in order to ensure optimal safe flight operations.
"Passengers are encouraged to continuously check flight information updates on ACSA App and directly with the airlines.”
Spokesperson for Fly Safair, the airport's largest airline operator, Maryke Pienaar, confirmed the suspension of their flights to the airport until further notice.
The inclement weather conditions are expected to continue for the rest of the week.
