FlySafair: Operations 'stable' as pilot strike drags on
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Low-cost domestic airline FlySafair says operations are stable amid the ongoing industrial strike by some of its pilots.

Talks between the airline and trade union Solidarity are underway with the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).
FlySafair has offered a multi-year 5.7% wage increase, while trade union Solidarity is demanding a 10.5% hike along with improved working conditions.
The strike, which has entered its second week, has seen the airline operating a reduced flight schedule.
"Yes, so we still maintain a reduced operating schedule. So we're about, we're flying about 70% of our flights that we would ordinarily fly," said FlySafair Chief Marketing Officer Kirby Gordon.
"This is obviously something that we know we can sustain with the pilots that we have available at the moment, and operations there are really stable. All flights are departing as they are scheduled."
Gordon said their operational contingency plans is sitting at over 97%.
