Former Hawks head to challenge dismissal

Former head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), Berning Ntlemeza will challenge his dismissal.

Ntlemeza's legal representative, Comfort Ngidi said they will approach the Supreme Court of Appeal within the next three days.
Ngidi told Jacaranda FM News they will apply for leave to appeal the High Court ruling that Ntlemeza is not fit for the post.
Ngidi explained they believe another court might come to a different conclusion.
He was adamant Ntlemeza will return to the Hawks headquarters on Monday, since he must be allowed to continue in the position until a ruling by the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein.
Earlier the Hawks' spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi said this is an issue for the desk of Minister of Police Fikile Mbalula, who has made it clear that Ntlemeza's been replaced with acting head Loyisa Matakata.
"What we are asking for is that we should be given space in order to do our work. These are matter that are being dealt with at another level. Everything is back to normal," said Mulaudzi.
